BADINGS Hank (B-8)

17/01/1907, Bandung, Java – 26/06/1987, Maarheeze, Netherlands

Dutch composer. He worked as a mining engineer and palaeontologist at Delft until 1937, after which he dedicated his life entirely to music. Badings used unusual musical scales and harmonies. An exceptionally prolific artist, he had produced over a thousand pieces at the time of his death. 

He wrote fifteen symphonies, at least four string quartets, several concertos, other orchestral works, chamber music, piano works, and incidental music. In the 21st century, interest in Badings' music is growing.
