BILASH Alexander (B-83)

Ukrainian and Soviet composer and teacher. He graduated from the Kiev state Tchaikovsky Conservatory (1957, class of composition of N. N. Vilinsky). In 1956-1961-teacher of music theory at the Gorky Kiev pedagogical Institute (now the national pedagogical University named after M. Dragomanov). In 1976-1994-Chairman of the Board of the Kiev organization of the Union of composers of Ukraine, since 1968-Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Union of composers of the Ukrainian SSR. The greatest fame of Bilash brought songwriting. He is the author of more than 500 songs, many of which are Patriotic. Among other works of the composer – four operas (the most famous "gaydamaki" (1968)), five operettas, oratorio "Cherry wind", symphonic suites and poems, two concerts for piano and orchestra, instrumental and choral works, romances, music for movies ("Katya-Katyusha" (1959), "Dangerous tours" (1969), "Time – Moscow" (1976), "Whirlpool" (1983), "Grooms" (1985), etc.). He was named People's artist of the USSR (1990), Hero Of Ukraine (2001).
