American singer, dancer, actor, comedian, author, film producer and television director. He was often billed as the "greatest living entertainer in the world". Davis Jr. was known as someone who could do it all, sing, dance, play instruments, act, do stand-up and he was known for his self-deprecating humor. He had a starring role on Broadway in Mr. Wonderful with Chita Rivera (1956). Davis's popularity helped break the race barrier of the segregated entertainment industry.
