FISCHER Annie (F-29)

Hungarian pianist of Jewish origin. She became famous for her expressive playing, lively, "talking" sound, bright phrasing and exquisite taste. She made her debut at the age of nine, performing the last two movements of Beethoven's First Concerto. She studied at the Liszt Academy with E.Donanyi. Anna's first international performance took place in 1928 at the age of 14 in Zurich. She won the 1st International Franz Liszt Competition in 1933. Fischer's repertoire was based on Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Schumann, but she added works by Liszt, Bartok, Kodai and other compatriots to them.
