Church musician, composer and music teacher who worked in Franconia and Swabia. Gebhard was director of the Nuremberg Conservatory from 1934 to 1945 during the National Socialist period and became a member of the NSDAP. On the occasion of the Reich Party Rally in 1934, he was commissioned by the city to write a festive hymn for mixed choir, boys' choir and orchestra for the reception of the Führer , which he conducted himself in the historic town hall. After the end of the Second World War he worked for a few years as a freelance musician, from 1949 until his retirement in 1961 again at the Nuremberg Conservatory.
