12/01/1783, Ransäter, Sweden - 23/04/1847, Stockholm, Sweden
Swedish writer, historian, poet, romantic critic of political economy, philosopher, and composer. He studied at Uppsala University from 1799 to 1806, in 1810 he began to lecture there on history, from 1817 — professor. Despite the fact that Geyer never received a musical education, he was widely known as a composer and collector of folk music. Together with Arvid Afzelius he published a collection of Swedish folk songs (1816). In the XIX century, Geyer's vocal compositions, written in his own words, were very popular. His instrumental (piano and violin) works are less well known. Geyer's work as a composer is influenced by both classicists (Mozart and Beethoven) and contemporary romantics (Weber, Mendelssohn and Schumann).
