About

This site is dedicated to all kinds of medals, plaques, coins and jetons connected with musicians. When I started to collect them in the beginning of 2000s I was sure that Paul Niggl has already described all of them in three volumes of his "Musiker Medaillen". His count stopped at 5170. After 15 years of collecting I learned about 9044 items and still counting. The search brings new images every day from all over the world. Now I think the time has come to share my knowledge with all concerned and interested in the subject. This database should be a big help to all collectors, auctioners and music lovers. I hope.

P.S. Niggl's books were deprived of one important thing - images. The web gives me the possibility to upload all images I have. So why someone can find my description of items not full in academic way. But I find them sufficient in case you have a full view of the items. However I tried to translate all inscriptions into English.

P.P.S. One important thing. There are a lot of multi-personal items in the collection. I put such kind of items under serial number of the FIRST depicted person in alphabetical order. For example the medal B-4/94 with images of Bach, Beethoven, Bizet and 6 other composers is placed under "Bach". There are indications w/o serial numbers under "Beethoven" and others. Please pay attention to this method.
